THE WIPO AWARENESS RAISING SEMINAR REPORT

The WIPO Awareness Raising Seminar proudly sponsored by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) took place on the 12th of February 2024 at the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.

The seminar had several persons in attendance which include persons who are print disabled who are also members of Nigeria Associations Of The Blind, dignitaries from different government ministries, media men and women.

The theme of the seminar was “Access To Digital And Nondigital materials For Persons Who Are Print Disabled”, which was perfectly taken by a formal Ambassador to India who also with visual impairment whose name is Dr. Christopher Nwanoro. He emphasized on the essence of accessing reading materials for persons who are print disabled and on the need to make these materials affordable as well.

The President of the Association in the person of Mr. Stanley Onyebuchi Nnamdi also added his voice advocating for the ease to getting these materials subsidized as well.

Furthermore, the Education Committee Chairman of the Association whose name is Mr. Umar Ibrahim Abubakar likewise called on the Government to help soften the hard effect of accessing materials for persons who are print disabled.

The dignitaries who graced the seminar also gave their goodwill messages emphasizing the same.

The Seminar was made more colorful when different photographs were taken after which the seminar came to a close.
