Nigeria Association of the Blind (NAB) was registered and incorporated under Section 5(II) of the Land Perpetual Act. Chap. 98 of the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1968.
The association is a member of the National Advisory Council for the Blind (NNACB). NAB also exists as a cluster body under the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) and is a member of the African Union of the Blind (AFUB) and the World Blind Union (WBU).
The association has had seven (7) presidents since its formation, namely:

- Mr. David U.Okon
- Mr. Adamu Ishiyaku
- Stanley Nnamdi Onyebuchi (Current Serving President)
The governing board, which is made up of elected national officers, headed by the national president, is the decision maker.

NAB is the umbrella body for all associations/organizations of/for the blind in Nigeria.
It is the leading charity association in Nigeria with membership in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
STRUCTURE
The NAB structure is made up of the;
- The General Assembly. It comes up once every four years. The general assembly consists of: all the national executives, chairmen of all the departments, chairmen and secretaries of state branches, and three other delegates from the states.
- The Governing Board, which comprises all the elected officers who are the National President, the Vice President, six (6) Zonal Coordinators, the National Secretary, and the Assistant Nat. Sec., Treasurer, and P.R.O., and departmental/committee heads made up of Youths, Women, Education, Employment, Fund Raising, Information and Publicity, Sports, and Welfare. This board is headed by the National President, and it meets at least twice a year. They are the decision makers.
- The six (6) geopolitical zones are headed by the zonal coordinators. Each zonal coordinator reports constraints and progress to the secretariat through the office of the president.
- State Branches: Made up of the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Assistant National Secretary, Treasurer and P.R.O., Youth leader, Women leader, and 3 district co-coordinators headed by the chairman/chairperson.
- Office administrative staff and other support staff
MEMBERSHIP
Our membership cuts across the 36 states of the federation, including FCT, and over 250,000 blind and partially sighted persons, focusing on different areas of development, all of whom work to support a diverse range of membership communities across the nation.
