  1. As part of the annual activities of the Association designed to create public awareness on important blindness issues, the association, on the 15th of October, annually observes the" white cane  Safety day" which is an international event and  has greatly contributed to the social acceptance of the white cane as a symbol of our independence and of the blind citizens in our society.
    This year, the association joined the rest of the world to celebrate the day in Cross River state Calabar  by  taking a walk from MPC junction by Diamond Hill to the Cultural centre, Marry  Slesor Avenue, where the main celebration took place with musical presentations from NAB members, speeches from invited guests , two brief lectures from the Representative of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission(EFCC) and the National body of Optometrists which was also followed by refreshments. In attendance was the Commissioner for Social Works and Rehabilitation representing the Governor of Cross River State, Special guest such as the representative from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC),  government officials from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, National Executives, members  of the association  and representatives of sponsoring organizations.
    The association has continued to coordinate developmental efforts of the blind and partially sighted persons resident in Nigeria through various programs and activities at both national, state and local government levels.
